BasedAI is the commercialization layer for open source AI — the infrastructure that turns powerful open weight models into production-ready products and enterprise APIs, accessible to any business that wants to build with them. Led by a founding team with backgrounds spanning Citi, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, Binance, and Circle, and backed by Arche Capital, BasedAI is positioned at the intersection of enterprise credibility and open AI infrastructure.
SBERLA built the brand from the ground up — logo, visual identity, colour system, typography, and a full set of brand applications — with a single objective: make BasedAI look like it had already arrived, before it launched.

The Brief

The starting point wasn't a blank page. BasedAI came with a clear creative direction already in mind: exponentiality. The concept of growth that starts slow, then accelerates beyond what linear thinking can anticipate. The brief was to translate that into a mark — and then into an identity system that could hold its own in institutional settings, investor decks, and the broader AI and crypto landscape simultaneously.
The secondary constraint was the ecosystem. BasedAI was initially conceived as the AI infrastructure layer for the Base ecosystem, which meant the identity needed to feel native to that environment without being derivative of it.

The Thinking

The logo came first, and everything followed from it. After exploring multiple directions around the exponentiality concept, the solution was a literal one — and the better for it. The mark is an exponential curve: flat at the base, rising sharply on the vertical axis, anchored by a clean horizontal line. It reads instantly as a growth chart to anyone who lives by metrics. It reads as momentum to anyone who doesn't.
The simplicity is the point. An exponential curve is one of the most universally understood shapes in business and mathematics — it needed no decoration, no abstraction. Just the curve, drawn with precision.
For the colour palette, the starting reference was the Base ecosystem's signature blue, but the execution went its own way. Rather than borrowing directly, we built a system around deep blue tones paired with a full greyscale that pulls in the same direction — cool, structured, institutional. The result is a palette that signals maturity and credibility to a B2B and investor audience, while the blue accents keep it grounded in the crypto and AI world it operates in.
Typography reinforced the same tension. Libre Baskerville, a serif font, carries the weight of financial publishing and institutional communication in headlines and advertising contexts. Liberation Sans handles some web headings, subheadings and body copy, keeping interfaces legible and adding a tech register that pairs cleanly with the line-work system developed for the identity. Together they give BasedAI a voice that can speak to a boardroom and a developer audience without adjusting its tone.

Outcome

The brand did what it was built to do. BasedAI secured its initial funding round from Arche Capital, with the investor deck carrying the full identity SBERLA had designed. The leadership team — ex Citi, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, Binance, Circle — had the visual foundation to match the weight of their credentials. The brand has since travelled further than the pitch: when BasedAI acquired the Warden App and announced it publicly, $WARD registered a 6x move — a signal of how seriously the market read the team and the project behind it.
A brand built to look institutional before the institution existed. It worked.
